Student Opportunities

Veterinary Students

The Gippsland Veterinary Group hosts many veterinary students every year, organised through our affiliations with schools and universities. Our small and large animal vets enjoy mentoring and teaching students and we often recruit new vets following a positive placement experience. We offer production animal (mostly dairy), equine, mixed or small animal placements and are part of the compulsory dairy/production animal rotations for Charles Sturt and Melbourne Universities, so places fill up quickly. For production animals our high caseload means that students are exposed to a variety of different cases with multiple experienced vets to learn from. Our small animal placements are conducted at either at Newhaven, Wonthaggi or Leongatha clinics. We offer fully equipped companion animal clinics with a high level of service – students are often pleasantly surprised at the standard of care that can be offered in a regional practice. We also offer equine placements with our team of three full time equine vets.

Year 10 Work Experience

We offer Year 10 work experience at our Newhaven, Wonthaggi, Leongatha and Foster companion animal clinics. Places fill up quickly. Please send your resume and an explanation of why you would like to do placement with us to:
